About Us
The USTP Learning and Resource Center reflects the continuing evolution of learning resources, technology and access to information sources. It endeavored in promoting educational excellence through pursuing its objectives of meeting the academic needs, cultivate ideas, develop capacities, and create knowledge. It reinforces and expands student learning, provide access to learning materials/ multimedia resources, online data bases and sharing of resources through the use of technology.
The library strives to contain the finest and most current technical and scientific information through acquisition of latest learning resources, state of the art facilities and equipment. The use of technology in the access of information remains to be a challenge especially with limited budget. However, as current users' age, library wants to ensure that its services are aligned with the needs of a younger, more demanding and more technological oriented clientile.
At present, USTP - Claveria Learning and Resource Center continue to be an active member of the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Libraries (PAARL), ALINET and MASTSLinet.
In strengthening the University’s curricular offerings and meeting the challenges of the new millennium, through quality and excellence, access and equity and efficiency and effectiveness of its available, the library is guided with the following objectives.
OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY
1. To provide timely access to information sources;
2. To create physical environment to learning and research;
3. To optimize the use of all available resources; and
4. To provide meaningful and memorable experiences to its users.
LIBRARY ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

COLLECTIONS
Library resources include the collections of various learning materials related to agriculture, environment and food. In 2017, 306 titles with 482 volumes of learning resources were added to collection.
At present, the library houses seven thousand nine hundred fifty two (7,952) titles with fifteen thousand one hundred twenty one (15,120 ) volumes of books, journals, magazines, audio-visual resources, and other electronic resources fully utilized by the students, faculty, alumni and other visiting clients. The ratio of book per student is 1:6.

ACCESS and SERVICES
The Library aimed of delivering a high standard of service; cultivate a welcoming environment that is supportive to academic research and inquiry; safeguarding the university collection; and connecting the academic community to the vast array of library resources.
A. Users’ Access
The library encourages the students to master the skill of how to learn and learn independently. Learning achievement of the students, the existence and utilization of LRC could give the students more access to learn. With this, the library continues to implement the flexi-time schedule to provide greater access to information sources. It is open for 64 hours per week serving from Monday to Saturday except on holidays.
Library resources and services were accessed by our users in nineteen thousand eight hundred sixty (19,860) times within two hundred fifty three (253 )working days. An average of seventy eight (78) users were served per day.

B.Resources Utilization
The limited volumes of our resources did not hinder us from giving our clients the access to information sources. The Library circulated 1,792 items through its main circulation desk, and 2,583 items were in -house used. Overall, a total 5,174 items were utilized from January to December 2017.

C. Audio-visual Services
Audio visual services continues to support the room activities of the university that includes film showing, lectures, seminars, culmination programs, meetings, etc. AVR services starts from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday. Its services are sometimes extended beyond the usual schedule as need arises. It was able to serve three thousand six hundred ninety seven (3,697) users from January to December 2017. An average of twenty-seven (27)users were serves daily within one hundred thirty six (136) working days of actual use.

D. Internet Services
The library is one of the hotspots in the campus where students can access the internet through a Wi-Fi connection. It also provides on-line data bases such as Proquest and Open Access journals and ebooks. Password is provided to those who are first time in the access of the internet in the library. They may use their laptops, tablets and Wi-Fi enabled cell phones and desktop computers while they are in the library.
E. Referral Services
The library still giving permit to students who wish to use other libraries who are ALINET member to augment their research references. With the presence of our on-line resources in the Library, none of our students were asking for permit this year.
F. Instruction Services (Orientation)
Library participated in the College wide orientation program for freshmen, transferees and returnee students in the first semester. A series of group orientation were conducted in the Library Audio-Visual Room using the video presentation. A total of four hundred forty seven students were given library orientation or instruction on policies / rule and regulations. (Table 3)

The library was able to received sixty five (65) titles, with one hundred thirty three (133) volumes of journals and other periodicals from other agencies, libraries and foundations. The Library has an updated institutional membership to PAARL, ALINET and MASTLinet.
Through RDE office, USTP library was able to give 3 volumes of Research and Development Journals to other libraries

This year, the library was able to received eight (8) journals and other publications from other member library of MASTSLiNet through Exchange of Journal activities of the organization.

Other Accomplishments
Other activities successfully performed by LRC staff:
- Submitted documents for AACCUP accreditation of the various programs of the university in different levels.
- Maintained and updated the library website: moscatlibrary.yolasite.com.
- Acquired access to Proquest databases.
- Enhanced library signage in different sections of the library
- Actively participated the journal exchange activity among SUCs in Mindanao.
- Acquired KOHA Integrated Library System thru MASTSLinet.
- Submitted 1 article to MASTSLinet Journal of Philippine Librarianship, vol. 1, 2017 entitled: The University of Science and Technology, (USTP) Claveria Campus Library System: Providing the link between education and the economy.”
- Attended the PLAI National Conference, MASTSLinet and ALiNet General assembly.
- Acted as Accreditor to other SUC libraries in Visayas and Mindanao.
- Hosted the Monday Convocation program in May 29, 2017.
- Student Services (Library Staff ) performed a dance number during the campus- wide general orientation program last June 2017.
