A. Library Services

      1.  Reference and Information Assistance 

                  The staff of the library aims to meaningful and memorable experiences to its users  with the use of library resources, collections and materials including basic introduction to electronic resources. Thus, orientation is conducted to the faculty, staff and students every start of the first semester. However, grouped and individual orientations are conducted from time to time.

                   Library assistants are assigned in each section charging counter/desk to assist users’ needs and where books are loaned out and are to be returned.

                   Both the computer catalog and the card catalog are strategically located in the second floor to help clients in their search of library resources.  The bibliographic index for serials is located in the serial section.  Abstract of selected journals may be retrieved in the computer at the serial section.

  2.  Resource (Books, Periodicals and CD/ROMs) Borrowing

General Reference / Reserve SectionResources on general subjects, like encyclopedias, atlases, maps, dictionaries, globes, and thesis on different subjects are found in this section.

Serial Section – Newspapers, journals, vertical file, indexes, abstracts of selected journals are available in this section. CD-ROMs are also found in this section.

 General Circulation Section – Fiction books and books on different subjects that are for loan out purposes are stocked in this Section.

   Filipiniana Collection – Books about the Philippines and books written by Filipinos which are for room use only are stocked in this section

 

      4.  Computer Services 
  • Computer Catalog.  Bibliographic data of book collection of the library may be searched using the computer located near the General Circulation Section.

  • Electronic Resources.   The library has numerous collection of material in electronic formats and computer units in the Serial Section serve the needs for CD-ROM searching and other general reference on electronic formats. Abstract of selected journals may be retrieved through the computer unit at the Serial Section.

  • Internet Services. The Internet, as an electronic information resource, allows access to ideas, information, and commentary from around the globe. It offers access to a vast array of tools and resources that are personally, professionally, and culturally enriching to individuals of all ages. Thus, the College provides access to computing and networking facilities and resources as service to faculty, staff and students in support of their research, instructional, administrative, and other intellectual pursuits related to and in fulfillment of the College’s mission and to the members of the local community when possible.

    5.      Interlibrary Loan Services

                  Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service which obtains study and research materials not available in MOSCAT Library. MOSCAT, being a member of Academic Libraries Information Network in Mindanao (ALINET) may avail services of library members of ALINET.  Likewise, MOSCAT extends it services to students / scholars of ALINET.

6.      Audio Visual Services

               Audio-Visual resources are to be used to support classroom instruction activities. Audio-visual resources are in the forms of cassette tapes, VHS tapes, Beta tapes, slides and VCDs. The capacity of the audio-visual room is 60 persons per seating.

7.    Computer Catalog 

                  The Library uses the Dewey decimal classification system to organize our book collection. Books are arranged numerically by subject area. To locate books use the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
